First Flock Herd Program Success Story: Amelia Power

The RSG Foundation is proud to celebrate First Flock-Herd Program recipient Amelia Power and her foundation ewe, Bridget.

Bridget, sold to Amelia by Devin Fisher of Fisher Club Lambs, recently earned Reserve Champion Ewe at the Adams County Fair in Idaho. Along with her success in the show ring, Bridget received compliments for her appearance and friendly personality.

Next month, Bridget will be bred to a ram from Brassfield Family Showstock, and Amelia plans to show her again as a yearling ewe before exhibiting her future lambs as both market and breeding projects.

Congratulations, Amelia! We look forward to following your journey and watching your flock continue to grow.

Supporting the Future of Solar Grazing

The RSG Foundation recently attended the ASGA-ALB Certified Solar Grazing Workshop in North Judson, Indiana. The workshop provided valuable insight into temporary fencing, site management, and practices that can help solar grazing producers build successful operations.

We appreciate the opportunity to continue learning and strengthening the resources we can provide to both current and prospective solar grazing producers.

Holiday Auction Donations Needed

The RSG Foundation is preparing for our annual Holiday Fundraising Auction, and we are inviting businesses, breeders, industry partners, and friends of the Foundation to help make this year’s event a success by donating an item, product, service, or experience.

Funds raised through the auction help the RSG Foundation continue its mission of supporting the next generation of livestock producers through youth education, livestock genetics opportunities, and programs that encourage young people to become more involved in the sheep and goat industries.

We Need Your Support

Auction donations can include livestock and agricultural products, genetics, farm supplies, apparel, gift certificates, services, unique experiences, or other items that would appeal to livestock producers and agricultural families.

Donations are needed by October 15.

Every donor will be recognized online as a supporter of the RSG Foundation Holiday Fundraising Auction, providing an opportunity to showcase your business or breeding program while supporting an important cause.

The RSG Foundation can also provide donors with a receipt for tax purposes for their contribution.

RSG recently had the opportunity to host faculty from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Agriculture for a tour of our facilities.

Educational & Research Genetics Grant Application

The RSG Foundation Educational & Research Genetics Grant helps support the advancement of small ruminant reproduction by providing semen and embryos from the RSG Foundation Gene Bank for qualifying educational and research efforts.

Individuals, schools, and research institutions are encouraged to apply each quarter for access to genetics that can help further learning, discovery, and research within the industry. Selected recipients are responsible for shipping costs, or genetics may be picked up at RSG’s storage facility in Lebanon, Indiana.

First Flock Herd Program Winner Highlight

The RSG Foundation is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 First Flock-Herd Grant Program, a national initiative designed to support young and aspiring livestock producers in acquiring their first breeding sheep or goat.

Get to know one of our sixteen grant recipients below:

Kenzie Galvan is a 17-year-old junior from Klamath Falls, Oregon. She plans to pursue a career as a small ruminant veterinarian after graduating from high school.

Kenzie has been raising market lambs for the past several years and has greatly enjoyed the experience. As she approaches the end of her time in youth livestock programs, she hopes to leave a positive impact by starting her own breeding program for younger exhibitors.

Over the years, she has developed a strong interest in whiteface and whiteface-influenced sheep and plans to focus her breeding program on those genetics.
