The RSG Foundation is proud to launch the Solar Grazing Health Initiative, a first-of-its-kind program designed to support the health, welfare, and sustainability of sheep and working animals on solar energy sites.
As the use of managed grazing grows across thousands of solar installations nationwide, this program provides the veterinary expertise, educational tools, and producer support necessary to ensure animal wellbeing remains a top priority in land stewardship.
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
The Solar Grazing Health Initiative was created to fill a critical gap in solar grazing: consistent, science-based animal care support. This program bridges the worlds of veterinary science, grazing management, and clean energy development to help producers and solar companies achieve shared success.
Led by a trusted team of veterinarians, producers, and sustainability professionals, the platform delivers real-world solutions and customized support for those raising livestock in renewable energy systems.
WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS
The initiative supports both solar grazers and industry partners through a growing suite of services and tools:
- Flock Health Inspections and site-specific animal care evaluations
- Veterinary consulting and parasite/disease management planning
- Animal welfare audits for solar developers and utilities
- Training resources for producers, contractors, and maintenance crews
- Sustainable nutrition products, including biodegradable supplement tubs and gut health solutions
- Public-facing outreach to promote trust and transparency in solar grazing programs
LAUNCHING SOON
The Foundation is preparing to roll out a tiered subscription model for solar grazers who want consistent access to veterinary support, planning tools, health monitoring programs, and educational content. These subscriptions will ensure that producers can receive affordable, ongoing care for their animals and improve outcomes over time.
