The RSG Foundation has established a Gene Bank to store semen and embryos for other non-profits and to provide a place for breeders to donate their unwanted genetics. Breeder donations will receive a receipt for their donation showing the number of units donated. If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim a charitable deduction for your RSG Foundation donations. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), a taxpayer can deduct the fair market value of items given to a non-profit. Fair market value is the price a willing buyer would pay for them. By law, a charity cannot tell you what your donated items are worth. This is something you must do yourself. To learn more: Consult a local tax advisor who should be familiar with your situation.
These donated genetics are then made available to others to purchase at a discount or by grants from the RSG Foundation.
